About our Custom Orthotics
If you’ve received a pair of orthotics from your Podiatrist made by Ground Force Orthotics, they have been fabricated from an original negative plaster cast taken by your podiatrist.
The orthotics you have just obtained were custom made and designed to control the motion of the bones in your feet and thereby control weight distribution.
About your new Orthotics
Since your new orthotics will be changing the distribution of your weight, a period of adjustment is often necessary before complete comfort is achieved.
Your body will take time to readjust to its new alignment.
This period of adjustment can be accomplished in a number of ways depending upon you and the type of foot problems you have.
- It is suggested that you start wearing the orthotics one hour on the first day, two hours on the second day and so forth.
- If you have discomfort, cut back on the increase until you can proceed further.
- Don’t play sports in your orthotics until after the break in period, or until after you can wear them comfortably all day.
- You should try to wear your orthotics as much as possible.
Fitting and Wearing your Orthotics
It is important that you put your shoes and orthotics on correctly and your Podiatrist will help you fit them into your shoes correctly on your fitting appointment.
Please ensure to:
- Remove the innersole from your shoe if possible.
- Open your shoe as wide as possible by undoing laces or Velcro.
- Make sure the orthotics are sitting flat inside each shoe.
- It is beneficial to wear your orthotics during your most productive hours, such as work hours, shopping or physical activity.
- If your orthotics are squeaking inside your shoe, simply apply a small amount of talcum powder inside the shoe.
How to care for your new orthotics
- You can clean your orthotics using warm soapy water and dry with a towel.
- Do not expose your orthotics to direct sun or high heat sources.
- Do not place your orthotics in the washing machine or dishwasher.
Please Note:
- Your podiatrist may need to see you in weeks to come to ensure you have correct alignment.
- Discomfort after the break in period should be mentioned to your podiatrist, as adjustments may be necessary.
- Foot orthotics should be checked by your Podiatrist every 12 months due to the material compressing and changes in foot shape.
Please contact your Podiatrist if you are unable to wear your orthotics after a month or experience any issues with them.
Guarantee
All orthotics are guaranteed against breakage for 1 year commencing the date you received them.
As each patient’s activity levels will cause wear and tear at different rates, posts and top cover are not covered by this guarantee.
